Job Description:
- Lead the technical design of a software ecosystem for scientists in Research and Development
- Develop cloud infrastructure concepts and strategies to ensure the use of cutting-edge technologies while right-sizing services for high-performant and cost-effective solutions. Drive infrastructure design delivery through the Syngenta cloud team
- Work closely with all stakeholders to convert business needs into pragmatic technology solutions
- Ensure data on our platforms are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR)
- Designs must enable access management and secure use of data for internal, external or public use
- Be an active member of engineering communities
- Be an active member of agile, self-organizing, squads
- Develops strong partnerships with R&D scientists in order to have full transparency and joint ownership of the technology strategy and progress towards it
Qualification:
- 9+ years of experience in Big Data, data warehouse, data analytics projects, and/or any Information Management related projects
- Prior experience building large-scale enterprise data architectures using commercial and/or open-source Data Analytics technologies
- Ability to produce client-ready solution architecture, business understandable presentations and good communication skills to lead and run workshops
- Strong knowledge of data manipulation languages such as Spark, Scala, Impala, Hive SQL, Apache Nifi and Kafka necessary to build and maintain complex queries, streaming and real-time data pipelines
- Data modelling and architecting skills including a strong foundation in data warehousing concepts, data normalisation, and dimensional data modelling such as OLAP, or data vault
- Good fundamentals around security integration including Kerberos authentication, SAML and data security and privacy such as data masking and tokenisation techniques
- Good knowledge of DevOps engineering using Continuous Integration/ Delivery tools
- An in-depth understanding of AWS Cloud solutions
- Experienced in integrating into legacy systems and COTS solutions
- Awareness of emerging data technologies, e.g. data quality, data catalogue, knowledge graphs, metadata and ontology management platforms
- Fluency in English, and additional languages beneficial
